Hands on Experience
At Pover-T-Farm we recognize there is more to learn than just the finer points of how to ride a horse and succeed in the show ring. We pride ourselves on teaching every rider the basic skills needed to care for their horses on a daily basis. From learning how to bale and stack hay, muck stalls, and fix machinery to administering medicine and handling the animals - we teach it all if you're willing to learn.
Lessons
New to horseback riding? Or looking to get back in the saddle after a long hiatus? We offer beginner riding lessons which focus on balance, understanding equine behavior, and the foundations of being a good equestrian, both in and out of the saddle. Our riders will learn not only how to work with horses confidently, but also why we do what we do for the benefit of both the equine’s well-being and rider safety. More information →
Volunteers
We are always accepting volunteers to help around the farm. As any farmer could tell you, the work is never done, there’s always another project or 50 still to be completed. We have the highest demand for volunteers who are physically capable of manual labor but there are also small or easier tasks that anyone can assist us with throughout the year. Like our lesson program, we always try to turn experiences on the farm into learning moments where we will discuss why we do the things we do. Volunteering on the farm is a great way to get in some physical exercise outside the gym, to learn new skills, or to just have that amazing feeling of knowing you’re doing important work that positively impacts many lives.
Some of our most common volunteer activities include bringing in hay, fixing fence, and general property maintenance (such as clearing out brush or painting). However, we constantly have new projects or are in need of knowledgeable volunteers who are willing to lend a skilled hand for some of our more specific tasks (such as putting up temporary enclosures, shelters, or repairing equipment). The activities mentioned are not all-inclusive of everything we welcome volunteers to assist with, so if there’s something specific about the farm life you’re hoping to learn more about, reach out to us today!
