Finding a New Home: Late one spring evening in May of 2018, Nicole came across a plea to rescue an emaciated horse, lot #1109. After a phone call to her friend Jillian and a few hours later, Val’s fees were paid and the next day Harland and Nicole hooked up the trailer and picked him up from a parking lot in rural Kentucky. He was malnourished, scared of everything and everyone, and in need of some TLC. Jillian named him Valiente and we all spent countless hours getting him back in good health. He is now thriving and living his best life!

2020 Update: Val has made massive improvements in his trust levels. Though he still certainly has his moments and is leary of most new people, he has become noticeably more relaxed around his caregivers. It was decided to retire him from any riding due to his arthritis and unpredictability. He enjoys his days grazing the fields and getting pampered in his stall.

2025 Update: Val has come a long way. while he is still uncertain around new people and unpredictable on the lead, he is now comfortable being approached in the field and even enjoys the occasional pet at the stall door or fence line. His age is starting to show as he is just a few years shy of hitting 30 and has started to loose a lot of his teeth.
